Immersing yourself in nature

I always find that the best way to clear my head and reduce stress and anxiety is to step out the front door and go for a walk in the nature reserve near our home. There’s something about putting one foot in front of the other, the repetition and predictable pattern of it while being surrounded by the trees and birds that helps me to ground again and shift whatever is in my head.

I try to walk daily, as well as practising yoga and breathing techniques to keep my body and mind in check. I find the same when I am in or near water, either at the beach or lakes. Every year my daughter and I head down to Devon to stay with my sister on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, where we go out for walks across the moors and through the woods near their house.

At the end of August we will be heading to the South West again and have added Kayaking in Exmouth to our itinerary which we can’t wait for! We also love Watergate Bay for the expansive sandy beach, surfers and great restaurants.
