The lotus flower's significant meaning
In yoga and eastern religions, the Lotus Flower is referred to frequently as a symbol of rebirth, purity and enlightenment. The Lotus Flower grows out of the dirty, murky water where no light reaches it but eventually finds the sunlight and produces a beautiful, vibrant flower.
A beautiful meditation technique is to visualise light travelling up from water, through the lotus flower and flowing up through your sushumna nadi (central energy channel along the spine), filling your entire body with light as it goes until it reaches your crown Chakra (Sahasrara).
